A psychoeducational assessment is a comprehensive evaluation process that examines a child's cognitive abilities, academic skills, emotional functioning, and behavioural patterns to identify strengths and potential areas of need within an educational, social, and emotional context.
Accommodations, also known as concessions, are granted to learners who experience learning difficulties such as ADHD, Autsim, and difficulties in reading, writing, and mathematics. Accommodations require reassessment as a child enters a new phase in education. Both IEB and GDE schools may request a full psychoeducational assessment to grant a child accommodations.
A school readiness assessment is typically requested when a child enters a new school or is starting formal schooling. A school readiness test evaluates a child's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to determine their readiness to succeed and thrive in an educational setting.
A cognitive screening is used to screen for concentration difficulties or cognitive delays. It is less invasive than a full psychoeducational assessment and is typically used to assess the child's progress in response to interventions that have been set in place.

As the child's parents/ legal guardian you will be asked to provide as much information as possible, this includes a developmental timeline, school reports, and reports from previous interventions. This information helps the psychologist develop an holistic picture of who the child is.
Once I am contacted, an intake meeting will be scheduled. This is a meeting between the parents/ legal guardian and me to discuss the child's needs and reason for referral. Thereafter I will advise on the processes to be followed regarding services rendered.
Kindly note that this is a cash-based practice. The costs involved are charged at Medical Aid rates and according to company policy. All clients will be notified of costs ahead of appointments and at the point of contact with the psychologist.
Invoices for services rendered will be sent to clients with all information to claim from medial aids in a timely manner.
